History

Pensby Roadrunners was started in October 1986 by Fred and Beryl Mottram and soon joined by Peter and Jenny Chee. We now have over 150 members!

Originally based at the Fisher’s Lane Community Centre in Pensby there were no showers or changing facilities and a search was made for more accommodating premises. Heswall Squash Racquets Club has provided these facilities for many years now. The club name was changed to ‘Pensby Runners’ in order to reflect the whole range of running enjoyed by the membership.

Besides being affiliated to the Heswall Squash Racquets Club, Pensby Runners is affiliated to the England Athletics and the Fell Runners Association.

The aims of the club, from the Constitution are: to encourage the practice and development of running without distinction as to sex, political, religious or ethnic differences. To provide a means of social recreation for its members. To cater, as the need arises, for Road running, Road Relay running, Multi-Terrain, Cross Country running and Fell and Hill running.
