The Roy Fisher Challenge
The infamous Roy Fisher Challenge (formerly known as the Chairman’s Challenge!)
Have a look at the route right here, filmed by our own Steve McConville https://youtu.be/8VNfwaShEGI
The Roy Fisher Challenge was established by former Chairman of Pensby Runners – Roy Fisher – in 2010 initially as a challenge to complete in under an hour. The challenge is set every three months (usually on the last Tuesday of the month) and consists of a run down to the shoreline and up to the high points of Heswall – a total of three times – finishing at Poll Hill the highest point on the Wirral.
The three climbs are up to 295’ in South Drive, up to 327’ at the Jug & Bottle and then up to 371’ at Poll Hill radio mast – the highest point. That is 993’ of climb and is 7.57 miles in length.
The challenge is to beat your previous best, and this course never gets any easier! Can you beat the magic hour mark? Or are you up to the 50 minutes challenge?
Here are the up to date results as of August 2021 as compiled by Rob Chalmers CC master results AUG 21 (1)
